Mental Game

Some days it’s a mental game and not so much a physical struggle. I’m trying not to compare my journey or struggle to someone else’s. Even though we both have the same condition (PMOS), it affects our bodies differently. She deals with thyroid issues and I don’t. I have bad acne problems and she doesn’t. And the list goes on.

It doesn’t mean that my journey or her journey is easier. They are both hard. We have different struggles and things we are working on. Areas that we are trying to improve.

I’ve heard it said that comparison is the thief of joy. And that is true. We should not compare our journey or life to someone else’s, but we are human and wanting what someone else has comes natural for us.

Enjoying the present and being content isn’t easy. Paul tells us in Philippians 4 to be content in our circumstances and God will give us all that we need. And to think he was writing that while in prison, wow! He had nothing and yet was content where he was because he knew God had a plan and a purpose for his life!

God has a plan and purpose for my life too. He also sees me more than I know. I was reminded of that this morning with the devotional I’m reading. This week the theme is “You are Precious to God” and the Bible verse Psalm 139:13-14. After I read the first line – For you created my inmost being (v13a), I cried.

God knows me and created me this way. Even if I don’t like it, a lot of the time (let’s be honest), there is a reason that he made my body this way. I was chosen to have this condition and point others to Jesus. I truly believe that is one reason why God created me like this – to show others that God is good even through the hard and that taking care of our bodies is so important! What we eat, how we move, and what we watch or listen to greatly impacts our health – physical, mental, and spiritual.

So this morning has been a struggle, I will admit that. There has been a lot going on this week too. But, I will continue to put my hope and trust in Jesus and give him my worries and troubles. God can handle them when I can’t!❤️
