Living with the problem

Sometimes you forget how much pain you used to be in until it comes and flares up again

Sometimes you forget what you pushed through until you are feeling better. Then one day the symptoms resurface, and you can’t believe you pushed through that pain for years when you were in high school and college.

Feeling this way right now with this TMJ pain and headache (TMJ disorder is a jaw condition  that causes pain in the jaw joint and muscles that control it) really sucks. It’s stealing my concentration and energy. I don’t think I have the best pain tolerance but this pain hurts.

My coworker was giving a presentation at work and said many people learn how to function in that state of pain or with the problem they are facing. That is so true!! I dealt with my TMJ and headaches for years. I didn’t know it wasn’t normal to feel that way. I didn’t know you shouldn’t be having headaches multiple times a week. I would just deal with it and usually take a pain reliever and push through it. I didn’t know anything else and my body got used to it.

After fixing part of my jaw and having a lot of work done to not deal with TMJ pain often, I know what it’s like to live without the horrible jaw pain, ear aches, and tension headaches. You don’t realize how bad something is until you are out of it and on the other side. I am grateful these synonyms are not here to stay and will try my best to rest today and give myself grace – even though I wanted to get a lot done today! 🤦🏻‍♀️

God is still good and I am grateful for new doctors who can help! Sometimes listening to our bodies takes a lot of courage and today I am going to listen and not push through it as much as I could.

Focusing on the grace and healing today!
